PRP
Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing process. Injections are used to treat torn tendons, tendinitis, muscle injuries, arthritis-related pain, and joint injuries as well many cosmetic procedures. PRP therapy is based on the fact that platelet growth factors (PGFs) support the three phases of wound healing and repair cascade (inflammation, proliferation, remodeling). In many circumstances, patients undergoing treatments with PRP can be expected to experience improved clinical outcomes when compared with traditional alternatives.
